Welcome

On behalf of the Trustees it gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the work of Langdon Community. As a Charity committed to supporting people with learning difficulties/ disabilities to have equality of life opportunities, we believe that “we can make a real difference”. Key to this is the commitment of each Langdon person to want a home of their own, find a job and have an active social life with friends.

As a Jewish organisation we believe that a supportive and nurturing home life provides a sound foundation upon which young people can build their lives. Langdon is established on the principles of Chaine V’Chesed U’Verachamim. (Morals and kindness and mercy).

An important part of our work at Langdon is to develop people’s independent living skills. Langdon seeks to encourage and support people to build on existing competencies and develop skills and abilities across a broad range of everyday living tasks from basic budgeting to independent travel. Support staff work closely with people to assess and prioritise areas for development.

Langdon is committed to empowering people to make real choices in their lives. As an organisation we do not prescribe or predetermine the lifestyles of the people we support.

Langdon Community respects diversity, difference and individual choice.
