The Langdon Foundation was pleased when the Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks agreed to speak at the 2008 Annual Fundraising Dinner held at the Banqueting House Whitehall in January. Barry Welck, Chairperson of the Foundation stated, “The Charity has benefited greatly from the support of Sir Jonathan and we are proud that he continues to be our Patron”. Barry went on to add, “Before Langdon even existed he, Simon Olswang and Jonny Manson approached the Chief Rabbi with the idea for a new charity that they believed could change the lives of many young Jewish people with learning difficulties. From this initial meeting Sir Jonathan has been an active supporter of our work”.
Prior to the event the Chief Rabbi sent this message:
Over the years I have been proud to be associated with Langdon. It is a superb organisation and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on the wonderful work they do. The growth of Langdon, especially over the past twelve months, has been outstanding and is a true reflection of the devotion and dedication of their staff. Your support of this great organisation has helped them achieve this growth, and is yet another achievement of which to be proud. Langdon’s presence in London over the past few months has helped many families and offered more young adults with learning disabilities the opportunity to maintain independent lives with purpose and dignity. I continue to be in admiration of your work. May you go from strength to strength in future years, and may all your efforts be blessed with success.I send my warmest wishes to those involved.
Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks. January 2008/Shevat 5768
