The article read:

'Langdon College Student Steven Gee has taken his love of animals to another level.

For despite having been diagnosed with learning difficulties, the 24-year-old has just completed his NVQ level one in animal care.

Steven, of Prestwich, started his NVQ in March 2007 with ProCo NW Ltd with the intention of getting a recognised qualification to help him find a career in animal care.

While doing the course, he worked at Heaton Park Farm Centre and learned safe working practises; how to assist with the care of animals; and how to handle them.

And the accolades didn't end there for Steven, son of Roberta and Alan Gee, who was also awarded ProCo's learner of the month award.

ProCo learning manager Jessica Heneberry said: "Steven has shown that, with the support of his family, Langdon Community, ProCO and Heaton Park, anyone can achieve their goals."

Steven is now working at Viper and Vine Exotic Pet Shop in Prestwich, and wants to attempt to gain the NVQ Level 2 in animal care in a retail environment or the veterinary nurse assistant qualification.'
